"Alaska Filmmakers" is a program dedicated to highlighting the various talented individuals in Alaska Film Industry. A series for filmmakers, by filmmakers, about filmmakers. Our hosts sit down with local independent filmmakers and productions groups to talk about what inspired them to become involved in the production industry. Exploring the various challenges and triumphs of Alaska's storytellers, and how they are working together to help sustain the state's film industry. Created by a small group of local artists who have all worked with one another at some point in their careers. Pulling all their resources, each member of the crew has brought their own experiences and unique style to the program.

Iimura creates a short self-portrait as well as brief portraits of five of his peers: Brakhage, Vanderbeek, Smith, Mekas and Warhol. In each portrait, Iimura attempts to copy the styles and traits of each artist (Vanderbeek's constantly moving camera; Mekas' experiments with film speed; Warhol's use of flashes of white against a black background), while briefly commenting on the images being shown. The film serves effectively as an introduction to the film styles of these artists.

The young director Kolya is obsessed with the dream of making an author's film, but instead he is forced to do uninteresting work in the archives of the film studio. The Belarusfilm Short Film Festival is a real chance for Kolya, especially when such a master as Yuri Stoyanov is on the jury.

And instead of the doomsday preparations you might expect from a place threatened by nuclear annihilation, Alaskans collectively…shrugged.

Deck, Jody and Alice operate Baked Alaska, a medical marijuana dispensary in Willapaw, AK. They're not very good at it.

During the gold rush days, a young man with his best friend go through lots of interesting adventures in Alaska from races to dangerous trips.

Buying Alaska proves that forgoing basic amenities is a reasonable tradeoff when it comes to breathtaking views and stunning wild surroundings that you can't find anywhere in the lower 48 states. Offering much more than living quarters, these properties are so in tune with the extraordinary landscape that it's often what's beyond the house that proves to be the main attraction, from the ability to hunt and fish from your back deck, to extreme seclusion on your own private island, to self-sustaining features such as smokehouses and greenhouses. However, there are also dangers that come with all the beauty, and living in this rugged and remote terrain can lead to animal attacks and brutal winters that cut you off from society.
